The Vera Carter Cooley Award |
|
Vera Carter Cooley was a math and English teacher in Gaffney, South Carolina, for many years. She died in 1969 from leukemia. Vera believed that the written word was powerful. In her honor, we now sponsor awards each year. The awards are presented by the Ohio State University Department of English to graduate teaching associates who demonstrate excellence in the teaching of Freshman composition courses. We believe the teaching of writing is a most important task. Barbara Joy Cooley & Thomas Cooley |
